Land Surface Processes and Global Change Research Group
The Land Surface Processes and Global Change Research Group is part of the Key Laboratory of Water Cycle and Related Land Surface Processes , Institute of Geographic Science and Natural Resources Research (IGSNRR), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). There are four faculty members, one adjunct member, five postdoctoral researchers and three graduate students in the group. Our research interests mainly focus on modeling and predicting the land surface hydrologic processes, and understanding the changes in land surface processes related to human-induced climate change, disturbance of human activity, and natural variability. We study the relations between change in land surface hydrologic processes and global environment change using land surface modeling, surface observations and remote sensing data diagnosis, and numerical experiments of climate models.

The AGU Geophysical Monograph Terrestrial Water Cycle and Climate Change: Natural and Human-Induced Impacts edited by Dr. Qiuhong Tang and Dr. Taikan Oki has been published by Wiley. This book is a comprehensive volume that investigates the changes in the terrestrial water cycle and the natural and anthropogenic factors that cause these changes. This volume brings together recent progress and achievements in large-scale hydrological observations and numerical simulations, specifically in areas such as in situ measurement network, satellite remote sensing and hydrological modeling. Our goal is to extend and deepen our understanding of the changes in the terrestrial water cycle and to shed light on the mechanisms of the changes and their consequences in water resources and human well-being in the context of global change.
